Aston Martin has revealed the production version of the Valhalla concept, a driver-focused mid-engined hybrid supercar. The brand uses its expertise from Formula One to build the chassis, electronics, aerodynamics, and hybrid powertrain. This gives the driver a new kind of immersive supercar driving experience and engagement. The brand revealed that the dynamic development of the Valhalla would be tasked to Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team. The Team includes drivers Sebastian Vettel, Lance Stroll, and Nico Hulkenburg. Aston Martin Valhalla - Engine Specifications Powering the Aston Martin Valhalla is a rear-mid-mounted 4.0 litre twin-turbo bespoke V8 engine. The flat-plane crank engine produces 750 PS of power. The engine sends its grunt exclusively to the rear wheels. In addition to this, the V8 engine also features a 150kW/400V battery hybrid system. The electric power unit comes with two e-motors. One mounted on the front axle and the other on the rear axle. Also, the electrical system adds another 204PS of power, and the combined output of the powertrain is more than 950 PS. Most Advanced Powertrain in a V8 Aston Martin In EV mode, the electric motor drives the front wheels. But in other modes, the power battery power is split between the front and rear axles. The percentage of power constantly varies depending on demand. In certain situations, 100% of battery power can be sent to the rear axle. This supplements the internal combustion engine maximizing the performance. The internal combustion engine combined with the all-new PHEV powertrain makes the Valhalla the most advanced and responsive powertrain ever fitted to an Aston Martin. Aston Martin Valhalla - Performance The Aston Martin Valhalla comes with an all-new 8-speed DCT transmission exclusively designed and developed for Aston Martin. The drivetrain also features an e-reverse function that uses electric power and saves weight by eliminating the need for a conventional reverse gear. The drivetrain also comes with an Electronic Limited-Slip Differential on the rear axle to maximize traction. This enables the driver to use 1000 Nm of torque, allowing the car to sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds. The Valhalla can also reach a top speed of 330 kmph and is capable of reaching a top speed of 130 kmph in EV Mode. On electric power, the supercar can also traverse for 15 km with zero tailpipe emissions. Aston Martin Valhalla - Performance Parts The Aston Martin Valhalla comes with a rigid carbon tub enabling controlled suspension loadings and precise electric power-assisted steering. The car comes with high-performance Carbon Ceramic Matrix brakes with brake-by-wire technology. The Valhalla also comes with a target dry weight of less than 1550kg and flow-down aerodynamic philosophy from Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar’s Formula One. The supercar also features active aerodynamic surfaces and meticulously sculpted aerodynamic surfaces that add 600kg of downforce. Aston Martin Valhalla - Top Features The Valhalla comes with features such as Full LED Matrix headlights with adaptive functionality, forward-hinged dihedral doors, distinctive roof scoop, additional side, and rear intakes. On the inside, the Valhalla comes with a Formula One-inspired driver-focussed cockpit. The brand also provides creature comfort features such as dual-zone air conditioning, a central touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adjustable pedals and steering column, and the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. These include Active Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Auto Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear View Parking Camera, complying with the latest regulatory requirements.
