While we recently saw the Celerio and Alto K10 cars getting an update of six airbags as standard, the company has also focused on its LCVs. In a latest update, Maruti has added an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) to the Super Carry loading van. The ESP functions along with the ABS and EBD, which the Super Carry already has, and avoids the vehicle skidding on turns and on slippery roads by stabilizing the vehicle. In addition to the ESP, the Super Carry also comes equipped with an Engine Drag Control (EDC) that avoids wheel slip during sudden deceleration. Moreover, the Super Carry also gets a hydraulic brake assist to support and stabilize the vehicle during extreme driving conditions. Mind you, the Super Carry is currently the only commercial vehicle in the company's fleet. It was launched in 2016 in India with a petrol engine, but later, it received a CNG powertrain option as well. The current model is offered with a 1.2-litre K-series dual-jet 4-cylinder petrol motor that makes 80 bhp and 104.4 Nm of peak power and torque. It is mated to a 5-speed transmission that delivers the power to the rear wheels via a differential box. Moreover, the CNG powertrain is also based on the same engine, and it develops 71 bhp and 95 Nm of peak torque. The 2025 Super Carry is available in four versions: Gasoline Deck, Gasoline Cab Chassis, CNG Deck, and CNG Cab Chassis. Its price range starts from Rs 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the range-topping variant. The commercial vehicle space has been void of the modern safety features that the passenger cars get. However, with the Super Carry receiving the ESP as standard, we hope for a new flair of change from other brands as well.
