KIA has unveiled the all-new Kia K5 sedan in the United States which will be launched soon and succeed the Kia Optima. The Kia K5 features a four-door Gran Coupe styling with sharp exteriors, driver-focused interiors, powerful turbocharged petrol engine and a plethora of safety features. On the exteriors, the all-new Kia K5 features the signature Tiger-Nose grille with sharp criss-cross intake mesh design finished in satin chrome or piano black depending on the variant, sleek triple-pot LED headlamp units with Z-shaped integrated daytime running lights and turn indicators, a sharp and geometric front apron with swept-back fighter-jet style air intakes that flank the bumper, a splitter effect air dam, raised bonnet ridges, flared rounded wheel arches, marker lights on the side, dual-tone alloy wheels, door-mounted ORVMs, sharply raked windscreens, blacked-out B-pillar, chrome window beltline that run along the top of the window and across the rear windshield where it meets the deck, boot lip spoiler, a large LED tail light encompassing the rear, diffuser effect on the rear with a chrome-tipped exhaust etc. On the interiors, the Kia K5 features a driver-centric dashboard with embellishments, satin chrome trim, rotary controls with push buttons on the central console, a chunky gear shift lever, control mounted steering wheel, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay and UVO Connected telematics, contoured pilot seats, a wide panoramic sunroof, Bose sound system etc. The K5 also features driver assistance and safety features such as Smart Cruise Control with Highway Driving Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Junction Turning Accident Avoidance, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist-Rear (BCA-R), Safe Exit Assist etc. The Kia K5 is expected to be powered by a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 290 Hp of power and another 1.6-litre turbo-petrol that makes 180 Hp of power and will come paired to a Quick-Shift 8-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission with a wet clutch with tech similar to the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission and traction-enhancing torque-vectoring All-Wheel Drive options. The Kia K5 if launched in the Indian market is likely to come via the CBU route and price around the INR 30 lakh mark and primarily contest with the Skoda Superb.
