It was only a matter of time that two-wheeler OEMs would jump on to the CNG bandwagon after the launch of the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG. Within a week of it's launch, there are reports that TVS is working on a CNG version for its popular scooter the Jupiter. Project U740 TVS has been diligently working on Project U740, aimed at developing a 125cc scooter powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). This ambitious project seeks to offer an eco-friendly alternative to the traditional petrol-powered scooters. The much-anticipated TVS Jupiter 125 CNG is expected to make its debut in the Indian market either in late 2024 or early 2025. By launching this model, TVS aims to be among the pioneers in introducing CNG-powered scooters in the country, setting a new benchmark for environmentally conscious commuting solutions. TVS Motor Company has set an ambitious sales target for the Jupiter 125 CNG, planning to sell approximately 1,000 units per month. Bajaj Freedom 125 Bajaj Freedom is a 125cc motorcycle powered by an air-cooled single-cylinder bi-fuel (Petrol+CNG) engine developing 9.5 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque. Bajaj is offering the motorcycle with a 2 kg petrol tank and a 2 kg CNG tank. On CNG the motorcycle claims to offer 102 km per kg and on petrol the bike will return 65 km to a litre of petrol. The brand also revealed that the Bajaj Freedom NG04 Disc LED has a kerb weight of 147 kgs. The bike comes with a telescopic front fork and a segment first link-type monoshock on the rear. The base model features a drum brake on both ends while the top spec model features a disc brake on the front and drum brake on the rear. Bajaj also revealed that CNG combustion produces approximately 26.7% less CO2 emissions than petrol.
