Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Tata Harrier.EV, an electric SUV that could feature a 75 kWh battery pack and an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. The Harrier.EV is expected to be launched before the end of this fiscal year, positioning itself as a competitor to the Mahindra XEV 9e. Harrier.EV Battery and Range The Harrier.EV will come with a 75 kWh battery pack, making it the largest battery ever used in a Tata electric vehicle. This battery is expected to provide a real-world range of around 500 kilometers on a full charge. The battery pack is likely to be sourced from Gotion, a Chinese company known for its prismatic cells. Performance and Features The Harrier.EV will feature a dual-motor AWD configuration, giving it an edge over the rear-wheel-drive Mahindra XEV 9e. The SUV will sit on Tata's Acti.EV platform, which debuted with the Curvv.EV. The Harrier.EV will also include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, adding to its versatility. Harrier.EV Design and Interior The design of the new SUV EV will be similar to the diesel-powered version, with minor EV-specific changes such as a blanked-out front grille, new bumpers, revised badging, and aero-optimized alloy wheels. The interior will largely resemble the standard Harrier, maintaining familiarity for existing Harrier owners. Launch and Pricing The Harrier.EV is expected to make its debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, which kicks off on January 17, 2025. Pricing for the Harrier.EV is anticipated to start around the INR 20 lakh mark, making it slightly more expensive than the Curvv.EV but competitively priced against the Mahindra XEV 9e. The Mahindra XEV 9e boasts of a 79 kWh battery and a 500+ kilometer real-world range. However, as compared to the upcoming Harrier.EV, this SUV is powered by LFP Blade batteries instead of NMC prismatic batteries. The XEV 9e is priced between INR 21 lakh and INR 30.90 lakh.
