The new model now gets a panoramic sunroof and six speakers as standard equipment on the base variants. Moreover, MG has axed out its 1.3-litre turbo mill that was exclusive to the top-spec Savvy trim. The reason behind the discontinuation of the 1.3-litre turbo engine is not out yet, but, we can safely assume that Astor's poor sales is the real reason behind it. Moreover, the SUV is now available with only one engine option i.e. a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It makes 110 bhp and 144 Nm of peak power and torque. MG offers this engine with a choice of a 5-speed MT and an 8-step CVT automatic gearbox option. Moreover, the mid-spec Select trim is now available with Ivory leather upholstery and six airbags as standard. Meanwhile, the Shine and Sprint entry-level variants now get a six-speaker music system as standard. The i-SMART 2.o infotainment system has also been updated for better response. The rest of the equipment list and mechanical setup remain unchanged on the new Astor. It competes with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, and Kia Seltos in India. While it offers a spacious cabin and soft ride quality, its petrol-thirsty engine and unexciting performance have not lured enough customers. The updated model is an attempt to revive its dying sales in India.
