Suzuki has unveiled a new adventure bike at the ongoing 2022 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. The V-Strom 800DE will replace the old V-Strom 650. The mid-size adventure category bike now brings the any-road ability to the segment.
The new V-Strom gets a new frame. Suzuki has positioned the bike as a daily adventure motorcycle. There are some styling cues from the larger V-Strom 1050, but the 800DE has its distinct elements as well.
In terms of dimensions, the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE measures 2,345 mm long, 975 mm wide and 1,310 mm tall. It has a ground clearance of 220 mm and a seat height of 855 mm. Some shorter riders might find the seat height a bit tall.
Suzuki has offered three colours on the bike – yellow, grey and black. It will also get a 3-way adjustable windscreen and a USB charging socket as standard.
Suzuki has paired a new 776cc parallel twin engine with the V-Strom 800DE. This engine develops 83 BHP of peak power @ 8,500 rpm. Torque numbers have not yet been revealed. That said, the fuel economy stands at 22.7 km/l. Power is sent to the rear wheels via 6-speed gearbox with bi-directional slipper clutch.

The bike gets multiple riding modes, four traction control modes and Honda’s easy start system. There is also the ABS system with dual modes and the rear ABS can be turned off as well when off-roading.
While there has been no official announcement yet, the bike could be launched in the next year in the completely knocked down (CKD) guise. It will head up against the likes of the Honda XL750 Transalp and BMW F850GS.
