Suzuki launches Gixxer 250 naked motorcycle for INR 1,59,800

Well, we all knew this was happening. Suzuki has now launched a naked version of the Gixxer SF 250 in the Indian market. The 2019 Suzuki Gixxer 250 has been priced at INR 1.59 lakh ex-showroom and rivals the likes of KTM 250 Duke, Yamaha FZ25, Mahindra Mojo. After the Inazuma which did not work well in India, this is the 2nd attempt in the 250cc street bike segment by Suzuki.

Powering the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 is the same engine, no changes at all. The motor is a 249cc, oil cooled with Suzuki Oil Cooling System (SOCS), 4-stroke, fuel-injected, single-cylinder, SOHC block producing 26.5 PS of power and 22.6 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. Suzuki claims that their cost-effective oil-cooling system works just as well as liquid-cooling here for our market. This engine has been specially developed keeping the Indian weather and road conditions.

Suzuki has also developed this chassis for India, and it rides on a telescopic front fork, rear monoshock and gets front and rear disc brakes with a dual-channel ABS system. There is no slipper assist clutch on offer.

Features on the Gixxer 250 include LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, full digital speedometer console, dual muffler exhaust with chrome tip, brushed aluminium alloy wheel design, dual tone paint scheme, engine casing painted in gold, split seats, tyre hugger, tank shrouds and engine underbelly cowl.

Suzuki has introduced the 2019 Gixxer 250 motorcycle in 2 colours – Matte Silver + Black and Metallic Matte Black.

Compared to the full faired sibling, the Gixxer 250 is INR 11,000 cheaper than the Gixxer SF 250. If you are willing to pay an additional INR 20,000, you can buy the Bajaj Dominar 400 which brings a lot many features and more power between your legs. The Suzuki Gixxer 250 has been introduced as a premium 250cc commuter for the urban market especially. It will be good for your daily office runs, as well as fast enough on weekend rides. Is it really a corner carver? We will have to wait to know that till we get our hands on a test bike…
