Suzuki is planning to launch a new electric scooter in the Indian market soon. The brand has been testing an electric scooter in India for quite sometime now and spyshots of the test mule of the electric scooter also led us to believe that the EV is likely to be based on the Suzuki Burgman scooter. Later, Suzuki revealed the “e-Burgman” electric scooter. However, the electric scooter had a swappable battery pack. But, reports reveal that it will not be the case for the India-spec model.
According to reports, the Suzuki e-Burgman is likely to come with a fixed battery. The India-specific model is likely to be codenamed XF091 and is not likely to come with a swappable battery as seen on the e-Burgman showcased last year. The first EV offering from Suzuki is also likely to have come to an end of its testing phase and production is likely to begin soon. Reports reveal that the production of the electric Burgman is likely to commence in December 2024 and its launch could be aligned for the first quarter of 2025.
While Suzuki is taking quite some time to bring the e-Burgman to the Indian market, the popularity of the ICE Burgman is likely to pull more customers and it is likely to find homes quickly. Reports suggest that Suzuki is projecting an annual sales volume of 25,000 units of the e-Burgman in the Indian market.
Currently, the technical specification of the India-specific e-Burgman are unknown. However it is likely to be at par with premium electric scooters in the Indian market such as the Ather Energy 450X, Bajaj Chetak Electric, TVS iQube and Hero Vida. Expect a range of around 150 km on a single charge and a top speed of around 80 kmph. More details of the electric scooter are likely to be revealed in the near future.
