Suzuki aims to sell 1 lakh Gixxer units this FY

Post the launch, Suzuki got a positive review for the 150cc-class Gixxer motorcycle, and also, a decent demand from the market. This might have happened for the first time in case of a motorcycle product for Suzuki and now the company has become slightly over ambitious. Suzuki aims to sell 1 lakh units of the Gixxer in this financial year. The company is targeting to capture 10% market share in the 150cc segment by the end of the year.

Suzuki had received over 3,000 bookings within a couple of days from the launch and already delivered 2,000+ units to customers. To sell more units, the brand is setting up new dealerships for better reach and plans to have 1,000 touch points by the end of this year. As of date, the company has 630 touch points with 330 dealerships.

The Gixxer is powered by a 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 154.9cc petrol engine which produces 14.8 PS of power and 12 Nm of torque. Engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Priced at Rs. 72,199 (ex-showroom Delhi), the Gixxer is a potent product and will surely find buyers. The problem is, getting buyers to the dealership in the first place. Suzuki has lacked in the motorcycle segment and with the Gixxer, they are trying to change that image. Soon, the company plans to add more scooters and motorcycles to increase their market share.
