STUDDS’ new 5.5 acre helmet manufacturing facility will be Asia’s largest

World’s largest two-wheeler helmet manufacturer, STUDDS Accessories Ltd. has announced that the brand has commenced operations at its new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Faridabad in Haryana, emphasizing its commitment towards manufacturing in India. STUDDS new Faridabad facility boasts to be the largest helmet manufacturing facility in Asia set-up with an initial investment of INR 160 Crore and is spread across an area of over 5.5 acres. The new Faridabad manufacturing unit will produce the STUDDS’ most popular Shifter and Thunder series along with a new range of bicycle helmets for the domestic market. 

STUDDS has also announced that the company has started operations at its another manufacturing plant where STUDDS has invested INR 40 Crore in the second plant, marking a total investment of over INR 200 Crore in the manufacturing plants. The second plant is spread across 1.5 acres and boasts to be India’s only facility with an in-house Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) production line. EPS is a crushable foam used on the insides of the helmet and is one of the most important safety feature in the helmet.

The new plants will have a production capacity of 7.5 million units of motorcycle helmets and 1.5 million bicycle helmets per annum. Both the manufacturing plants are packed with automated technologies, with nearly 70% of the operations through automations and employs one of the best manufacturing processes in the Indian market and include processes such as a paint shop, moulding, visor coating, packaging and warehousing.

In total STUDDS now has four manufacturing plants all located in Faridabad, Haryana is currently exporting its helmets to more than 40 countries. The brand also plans to introduce a new range of helmets within this financial year. STUDDS Accessories Limited has two flagship brands STUDDS & SMK Helmets and offers a wide range of helmets and motorcycle accessories and in in terms of volumes sold in a year, Accessories Ltd. boasts to be the largest two-wheeler helmet manufacturer in the world. STUDDS also claims that their facilities ensures direct employment for over 1500 individual. 

According to a report from the World Health Organisation, head injuries are the leading cause of fatalities among two-wheeler riders and the fatalities can be reduced by 42% and the head injuries by 69% by wearing an Automotive Standards safety-compliant helmet.
