SsangYong has unveiled the Tivoli facelift for the South Korean market. The compact-SUV has seen a few design changes on the exterior, but the majority of the changes have been done to the interiors of the car. Earlier, the Tivoli was spotted testing in India with the new design changes as well.
On the exterior, the SsangYong Tivoli gets a redesigned grille and headlights, the front bumper has also been tweaked and now gets larger air intake, the tail lights and the rear bumper have been revamped and the changes are more pronounced on the rear. On the inside, the Tivoli facelift features an all-new dashboard, soft-touch materials, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster.
SsangYong has not shared the technical specifications of the new engine, but according to reports, the facelift Tivoli is likely to be powered by a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine which is expected to produce 160 HP of power and 280 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.
For comparison, the XUV300 which has its underpinnings from the Tivoli is powered by a 1197cc, turbo petrol engine which produces 110 HP of power and 200 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission. Another diesel offering is powered by a 1497cc, turbo diesel engine producing 115 HP of power and 300 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual. Both the engines are developed and owned by Mahindra in India.
SsangYong is owned by Mahindra and it does not directly sell its cars in the Indian market but a few SsangYong cars are available which are re-engineered by Mahindra for India. The XUV300 is one example as the compact-SUV is based on the SsangYong Tivoli & also the Alturas G4 SUV is based on the SsangYong G4 Rexton.
In related news, the XUV300 has been spotted in India testing with a BSVI compliant engine. The spied car had a ‘BSVI’ sticker on the fuel filler cap which leads us to believe that the upgraded engine variant is going to be launched soon. The BSVI emission norms will be enforced from 1st April 2020 in India.
