A subtle minimalist designed, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 opens up a new gateway to the urban street-fighters. With its clean lines and simple minimal approach, it has a soothing effect to the eye. Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 test mules have been spotted testing in India since more than a year now, and will be coming soon to the Indian market and these bikes will be sold through the KTM network.
Earlier they were spotted using spoked wheels but recently they were spotted again on alloys (similar to KTM) and were sporting MRF Tyres. This could be the domestic version of the bike which may be sold by the end of 2019. According to the spy photographs, a revised exhaust design is seen which means the engine has received an overhaul to become BSVI compliant, which will be enforced from April 2020.
The engine on the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 is a 373.2cc, single-cylinder, four-valves, DOHC motor producing a maximum power of 44 BHP @ 9000 RPM and 37 Nm of peak torque @ 7000 RPM coupled with a 6-speed gearbox with Bosch engine management system and PASC mechanically operated anti-hopping slipper clutch. This engine could be tuned differently via the EMS for a different character.
The frame is a powder-coated steel trellis and the suspension hardware will be similar to the KTM Duke 390 with a WP 43mm upside down front fork and a multi-step adjustable WP monoshock with preload on the rear. Brakes are a 320mm disc with a four-piston radially mounted caliper on the front and a 230mm disc with a single-piston floating caliper on the rear with dual-channel, disengage-able ABS.
Other equipment may include a round LED headlamp, a multi-information instrument panel, clip-on handle-bars, a side slung exhaust and unlike the international model, a split seat set-up. Some of the hardware such as the crash protectors will be borrowed from the KTM Duke 390.
The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 is expected to be priced around INR 3 lakh ex-showroom.
