Written by Rohit Tonapi

The VinFast VF8 has been spotted in India for the first time. The electric SUV was spotted on a flatbed. The Vietnamese EV maker unveiled the VF8 at the starting of 2021. Currently, the company offers two models – the VF8 and the flagship VF9. Also, the Italian design firm Pininfarina is behind the design of the all-electric SUV.

VinFast VF8 Electric SUV Spotted – What Do We Get To See?

The VinFast VF8 can be seen transported by a flatbed. The model in the short video seems to be the higher Plus variant of the VF8. We only get to see the rear of the SUV. However, the wraparound taillights and the logo in the centre are identifiable. The VF8 in the video does not sport a number plate. Hence, we can conclude two things – either the car is testing in India for a launch, or the car is in India as a private import.

In the international market, the VF8 is available in two trims – Eco and. Looking at the alloy wheels, we can conclude that this is the Plus model. It comes with 20-inch alloy wheels. Furthermore, there’s also an option to upgrade to 21-inch alloy wheels. The Eco trim only comes with 19-inch alloy wheels.

VinFast VF8 – Highlights

The Italian design firm Pininfarina designed the VF8. The front of the SUV gets dual-LED headlights, and a combined LED DRL with turn signal indicators on top of it. The rear of the car features a wraparound LED taillight. At the centre of the taillight, you can also see a large ‘V’ emblem. On the inside, the VinFast equips the SUV with a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Also, instead of a digital instrument cluster, the VF8 features a colour heads-up display. Unlike its bigger sibling, the VF8 gets two rows of seats. Hence, the VF8 is a five-seater SUV.

Powering the electric SUV are dual-electric motors sending power to all four wheels. In the Plus trim, the motors produce a total of 408 PS and 620 Nm of torque. The VF8 accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.5 seconds. At the same time, the Eco trim makes 353 PS and 500 Nm of torque. The Eco trim is able to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds. Thus, it is 0.4 seconds slower than the Plus trim.

As for the battery pack, there are two options available – 82 kWh and 87.7 kWh. The smaller of the two battery packs offer a WLTP range of 400 km. At the same time, the larger battery pack offers a range of up to 447 km as per the WLTP cycle. The VinFast VF8 also supports fast charging. The car is able to charge from 10 to 70 per cent in just 24 minutes. Meanwhile, the larger battery pack takes 31 minutes, owing to the larger battery.

For peace of mind and a hassle-free ownership experience, the company also offers a standard warranty of 10 years or 200,000 km.
