Solar Powered EV Charging Station in Mumbai set up by ATUM Charge

India’s 1st Solar Powered EV Charging Station, ATUM Charge, has come up in Mumbai. With a capacity of 5.2KW ATUM Solar Roof, this is the world’s first electricity-generating solar roof. The solar roof has patents in India, the United States, and South Africa. The company had an intimate puja ceremony to commemorate this achievement, followed by a larger inauguration later. With this, ATUM is pushing for an environmentally friendly and sustainable ecosystem.

The ATUM modules installed are 16 nos x 325 WP, generating 24 kWh per day and 8,760 kWh per year. This is equivalent to rescuing 51 trees from being felled and reducing CO2 emissions by 4395 kg. ATUM ChargeMalad also caters to the youth as it also serves as a convenient new-age co-working space.

Solar Powered Charging Stations

With the demand for EVs getting increasingly popular, ATUM Solar Roof aims to become the best solution in the market. Conventional EV Charging Stations use thermal power to generate electricity. Thus, adding strain on the power grid, thus putting pressure on India’s power crisis. With a continual increase in EV production and sales, the load on traditional power sources has also increased.

Moreover, ATUM Charge will supply power wherever required, and because of its decentralised architecture, it is less draining on the grid. ATUM Charge will also partner with various other charging station owners to supply them with ATUM Solar Roof. These partnerships will enable a green power source instead of the highly polluting thermal power source they are typically dependent on.

Solar Roof charging enables the entire electric vehicle charging proposition to transition to 100 per cent solar. And hence the company claims to generate green energy and promote green commuting in the real sense of the word. The new charging station is the first step toward ATUM’s ultimate goal of a greener, healthier India.
