In August 2021, Skoda Auto India announced a competition to create a camouflage wrap for Skoda’s upcoming mid-size sedan. The contest was open till 18th August 2021, and now Skoda reveals the names of the top five finalists. The competition has various criteria which the contestants need to adapt and design the wrap according to the multiple factors set by the company.
Skoda has now announced that the names of the top five contestants, shortlisted from over 200 entries. Out of the top five, only one contestant will be the winning designer, and Skoda will apply the camouflage wrap to the upcoming Skoda mid-size sedan. The top five winners are – Mr. Ben Stewart from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, Mr. Prateek Sethi from Pune, Maharashtra, Mr. Riju Karunakaran from Bengaluru, Karnataka, Mr. Rohit Bhandwalkar from Pune, Maharashtra and Mr. Shreyas Karambelkar from Badlapur, Maharashtra.
Skoda will apply the camouflage designs to the Skoda test car. The design will also go through production, durability and applicability processes, and the brand will announce one winner out of the five in October. The winner will get the chance to meet the Head of Design, Skoda Auto a.s. – Mr. Oliver Stefani, at the Skoda headquarters in Prague. Skoda will also apply the winning design to the upcoming Skoda mid-size sedan, which the brand will showcase across the country. The runner up will get a design tablet, and the remaining three shortlisted entries will receive Skoda gift bags.
Skoda is planning to introduce a new mid-size sedan in the Indian market. The brand is likely to position this sedan above the Rapid and below the Octavia, thus bridging the gap between the two. Rumours suggest that the mid-size sedan will be christened Slavia and underpinned by the MQB-A0-IN platform that made its debut on the Skoda Kushaq. The mid-size sedan will also use the Volkswagen Group’s TSI family engines that offer both performance and efficiency.
