Ahead of its global debut at the Paris Motor Show this October, Czech marque Skoda has revealed the next-generation Fabia hatchback. The Skoda Fabia was discontinued in 2013 in India sighting low demand.
The next-generation Skoda Fabia gets the new design language from Skoda, and looks similar to the Vision C concept. The hatchback is sub-4 meters, but is 90mm wider and 30mm lower than the discontinued model. From the images though, although it sits lower, it looks noticeably taller than the Volkswagen Polo. The increase in width will definitely increase cabin space along with enhances on-road stability.
Outside, the car is much sharper in design as compared to the roundish design treatment before. The front grille is wider and the headlamps are narrower than before. It gets blackened B pillars and a raked C pillar to add a sporty touch to the design. Crease lines are to be seen all around the car. The tail gate gets an angular cut near the number plate housing as seen on the Rapid sedan. Typical of Skoda, we have the C shaped tail lamps with a smoked out / black surround.
The car will use a tweaked version of Volkswagens PQ26 platform and is also lighter than before.
Engine options include a new 1.0L, 3-cylinder and 1.2, 4-cylinder petrol units. The diesel will be powered by a 1.4L unit. We can speculate that a DSG variant might be available on the petrol powered Fabia.
