After witnessing record-breaking months in sales, Skoda Auto India has recently broken yet another sales record. For August month, Skoda sold its largest number of cars ever in its 20+ year legacy in India. The company sold 4,222 cars in the given period, which is a 10 per cent rise over the 3,829 cars Skoda sold in August 2021. These figures see Skoda Auto India touching the 37,568 total sales mark. And for 2022, it is still more than a quarter yet to go.

Biggest Year For Skoda India

Thus, this makes 2022 the Biggest Year ever for Skoda Auto in India. The previous best by Skoda India was 34,678 units sold in 2012. This is an important moment for Skoda Auto, not just in India but also the world, showcasing the resurgence of the brand. Moreover, this also speaks of the success of the India 2.0 project. Under which we saw the blockbuster launches of Kushaq and Slavia. Both products resonate perfectly with the consumers. In fact, these two have played a detrimental factor in bringing success to Skoda. This INDIA 2.0 was a path-breaking project that leveraged the all-new Made-for-India concept. With the increase in localisation, Skoda’s products also became more indigenised.

Skoda India’s New Approach

Based on Made-for-India platforms and a complete overhaul of Skoda Auto India’s business process, the company has an all-new identity. Massive improvements are visible, including more customer touchpoints and severe reductions in ownership and maintenance costs. What helped the INDIA 2.0 project was the Made-for-India MQB-A0-IN platform with 95 per cent localisation. Furthermore, to add to this, an ownership cost goes as low as Rs 0.46 per kilometre.

Skoda India’s other titles, notably the OCTAVIA and SUPERB sedans and the KODIAQ SUV, too played their part. INDIA 2.0 will continue to be on the customer satisfaction front. Skoda Auto India’s main focus is now on constantly expanding its number of customer touchpoints across the country. From 175 touchpoints at the end of 2021, the company currently has over 205 touchpoints to date. And the plan is to reach the target of 250 touchpoints by the end of 2022.
