The company delivered close to 2,300 units of the SUV for November 2021. Under the ‘India 2.0’ initiative, Skoda India is increasingly expanding its reach to newer regions. Can Skoda Slavia Revive The Dying Sedan Segment?

Recently Skoda has unveiled its latest offering in the Indian market in the form of the Slavia. The demand for sedans is very slim, as SUVs are eating up its market share. Moreover, customers are also more attracted to SUVs, given their advantages over sedans. But Skoda, which has had a wide range of sedan offerings in India, aims to revive the segment with the launch of Slavia.

Skoda’s range of sedans has always been quite successful in the country. Starting with the entry-level model, Rapid, to all the way up to luxury offerings like Superb. Other models like Octavia have also been relatively prosperous, especially in the enthusiast’s crowd. Thus, with Slavia as well, Skoda aims to replicate the success story as has happened previously with other sedan titles.

Rivals And Competitions

As per plans, Skoda will launch the Slavia sometime in early 2022. It will take on the other sedans in the segments that include the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, upcoming Toyota Belta and more. Skoda India has already discontinued the production of the Rapid. And hence Slavia is its direct replacement. We don’t have the official price figure for the sedan. But we expect Skoda to price it aggressively that might fall in the range of INR 10 to 15 lakhs.
