Škoda sold 1,00,000 cars in India in 2 years

Škoda Auto India has marked a significant milestone by achieving sales of over 1,00,000 cars in the last two years. This achievement underscores the success of its India-centric product strategy, highlighted by the introduction of two tailor-made models for the Indian market – Kushaq and Slavia. Both models played a crucial role in reaching this milestone in a relatively short period, a testament to the company’s evolving strategy.

The year gone by..

The year 2022 witnessed record-breaking success for Škoda Auto India with the launches of Kushaq and Slavia. However, in 2023, supply challenges and related constraints affected the momentum slightly. Sales figures reveal that Škoda Auto India recorded sales of 48,755 units in 2023, following the record-setting year of 2022, where the company sold 53,721 cars. Notably, the Kodiaq also experienced a significant jump of 100% over 2022, achieving an all-time high annual sales volume.

The company’s commitment to customer service is reflected in its expanded network. Starting with 120 customer touchpoints in early 2021, Škoda Auto India has grown to 260 touchpoints by the end of 2023. On the safety front, Škoda Auto India has made strides with its cars. Both the Kushaq and Slavia achieved a full 5-star rating for adult and child safety in crash tests conducted under stringent protocols. With the Kodiaq already securing a 5-star rating in Euro NCAP, Škoda Auto India now boasts a complete fleet of safety-tested cars.

Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, commented on the sales performance, emphasizing the company’s efforts to enhance its product range, expand its network, and improve sales and after-sales quality. He acknowledged the supply challenges in the first half of 2023 but highlighted the positive end to the last quarter of the year. Looking ahead to 2024, Škoda Auto India aims to introduce new products, further its growth through exports, and expand its network with a continued focus on customer satisfaction.

Škoda Auto India – Road Ahead

Looking ahead to 2024, Škoda Auto India plans to leverage its Pune plant for exports to Vietnam and has several product actions and new announcements in the pipeline.
