The launch of Slavia has created a positive buzz about Skoda in the Indian market. The sedan resonates with what we can expect from Skoda as a part of its ‘India 2.0’ initiative. Skoda recently announced its partnership with Ceat that will allow the tyre maker to supply tyres for Slavia. Riding on the Ceat SecuraDrive tyres, Slavia will aim to ride through its success in the not-so-much popular sedan segment.
Being India one of the largest tyre makers, Ceat has put up some promising products in the past. And with the SecuraDrive as well, we expect the same. Ceat claims that this set of tyres come with a design keeping in mind the requirement of sedans. Moreover, these tyres also get industry-first 3D groove wall and smart compounding technology. As per Ceat, this helps in keeping the vehicle safe in various driving conditions like wet or dry. SecuraDrive has been one of the popular choices amongst the customers. The characteristics of being safe, agile, and stable at high speeds add to the extra peace of mind for the customers.
Entering the sedan segment in 2022 with a new introduction is a risky move. Given the proliferation of SUVs and Crossovers in the markets, long slung sedans are exactly what customers are looking for these days. But Skoda being Skoda, has taken up the challenge to revive this dying segment. And who better than the Czech based carmaker to do so?
Octavia, Superb, Rapid, all these cars that made Skoda’s name in India, are all sedans. And with the Slavia as well, they are expecting a similar response from the customers. The initial impressions of Slavia look quite promising. Both aesthetically and mechanical, the sedan is pretty much sorted. Moreover, one area where Skoda was in the wrong books, i.e. service cost, has also been taken care of. To assert this fact, Skoda claims a service cost of INR 0.46/km for the new Slavia sedan.
