In a Static Digital World Premiere, Skoda Auto India revealed the all-new Skoda Slavia in the Indian market. Skoda also announced that the bookings for the Slavia are now open in the Indian market through Skoda’s official website and dealerships. The Skoda Slavia is the brand’s second vehicle under the India Project 2.0. The brand revealed that the Slavia had been developed at the SKODA AUTO Volkswagen India Technology Centre in Pune. The brand will locally produce the vehicle at its production plant in Pune.
Skoda will offer the Slavia in three variant options and five colour options. The brand offers Active, Ambition and Style variants on the sedan. The company offers the Slavia in Candy White, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel, Tornado Red and Crystal Blue colour options.
The powerful and robust midsize sedan boasts a bold and beautiful design language and bright interiors. On the front, the Skoda Slavia comes with a new hexagonal grille with a double slat design. The car features an L-shaped light signature on the headlamps and signature C-shaped taillamps with crystalline elements. The sedan comes with The sedan features 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels filling the rounded wheel arches pretty well. The Slavia comes with muscular lines and an appealing athletic stance. The car features a minimalist dashboard layout with a central infotainment screen and touch-sensitive HVAC controls.
The Skoda Slavia will come with features a 25.4-cm touchscreen infotainment system with Skoda Play Apps. The brand also offers a 20.32-cm full digital cockpit instruments cluster with three modes and a Skoda two-point steering wheel with multiple controls. The Skoda Slavia also comes with ventilated front seats, USB-C charging, Elastic bands, a utility recess on the dashboard, reflective tapes on the sides, rear cupholders, smartphone pockets, coat hook and ticket holder.
Powering the Skoda Slavia will be a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine from the Volkswagen Group’s TSI engine family. The engine produces 115 PS of power. The Slavia will also be available with a higher-spec 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI turbo-petrol engine. The engine produces an output of 150 PS of power. Both engines feature a front-wheel-drive architecture.
However, the 1.5-litre TSI engine also comes with active cylinder technology (ACT). The innovative technology can automatically shut down two cylinders when the engine load is low, enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing tailpipe emissions. The engine will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The 1.0-litre motor will feature a 6-speed automatic transmission as an option, while the 1.5-litre TSI gets a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox as an option.
The Skoda Slavia underpins the MQB-A0-IN platform that has achieved 95% localisation in the Indian market. Thanks to Skoda engineers, the Indianised version will bring state-of-the-art technology will come to the Indian roads at competitive pricing. The Slavia is the second car in the brand’s portfolio to use the MQB-A0-IN platform. The Skoda Slavia measures 4,541 mm in length, 1,752 mm in width, and 1,487 mm in height. The wheelbase of the sedan measures 2,651 mm, offering spacious interiors.
The Skoda Slavia features up to six airbags – driver and front passenger, optional front side airbags and head curtain airbags. In addition to this, the Skoda Slavia comes with a plethora of safety features for both occupants and other vulnerable road users. The brand also offers a highly rigid bodyshell on the Slavia that has been tested to take multiple impacts. The Slavia also offers traction control, ABS, EBD, disc brake wiping, multi-collision braking, electronic differential lock, hill hold control, vehicle stability management, rain and light sensor, as well as a tyre pressure monitoring system.
