Skoda India reported a growth of 282 per cent in sales for August 2021. The sales figure for this month stood at 3,829 units as compared to 1,003 units for August 2020. The carmaker mentioned that the launch of Kushaq has been instrumental in the growth of sales. Along with this, Superb, Octavia and Rapid have also shown promising growth. Sales last month, i.e. July 2021, stood at 3,080 units, thus resulting in a growth of 24 per cent increase compared to August 2021 sales. Under the ‘India 2.0 strategy’, the Volkswagen-Skoda group aims to increase its network in the country rapidly. New showrooms have now come up in Bhopal, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Patna.
The carmaker had earlier teased its upcoming mid-size sedan that will sit above the Rapid and below the Octavia. As per rumours, this sedan will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, on which the Kushaq is also based. This mid-size sedan will very likely use the current Volkswagen group’s 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI engine.
Starting from 15th August 2021 to 15th September 2021, Skoda will run the Independence Day Campaign’. This will entitle the customers to a 15 per cent discount on select parts, a 10% discount on select accessories, a 20% discount on RSA and a free 40 point check-up. The carmaker confirmed that all these offers are applicable across Skoda India’s range of products.
Currently, the 1.5-litre engine is only offered with the top-spec Style and GT trim. But now, as per rumours, Skoda might offer the 1.5-litre trim with the mid-spec Ambition trim. And interestingly, rumours also suggest that this trim will get both the 6-speed manual as well as the DSG automatic gearbox. Once launched, this trim will surely offer a great value for money proposition for potential buyers. Skoda Kushaq has created a positive impact in the market, with more customers flocking to showrooms.
