Skoda reveals engine options for new Superb

Skoda has revealed the powertrain options on the fourth-generation Superb. The sedan is expected to make its global debut later this year.

Skoda Superb : Engine Details

The Superb will share engines with the second-generation Kodiaq. This means, there will be five options for customers to choose from. These include two petrol, two diesel and one plug-in hybrid option (PHEV).

The entry level Superb will get a 1.5-litre TSI motor that develops 150 HP. This will be paired with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.
Higher variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre TSI motor with two power levels. One will be 204 HP while the other will belt out 265 HP. While the former will be front wheel drive, the latter will send power to all the four wheels. Both of these will be paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission.

The diesel line-up consists of a 2.0-litre diesel mill with two tunes. The base variant will generate 150 HP while the top-of-the-line version will develop 193 HP and come with standard all-wheel drive. Both engines will be paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
Lastly, the plug-in hybrid variant will come with the 1.5-litre TSI motor rated at 150 HP and a 25.7 kWh battery. The electric motor and the engine have a combined output of 204 HP and an all electric range of over 100 km. a 6-speed dual clutch gearbox will be handling the transmission duties.

4th-Gen Skoda Superb : More Details

In terms of design, the Skoda Superb features the new company grille, slim LED headlamps and matching tail lamps. There are crystalline elements in the lights. The grille also houses the ADAS radar.

Dimensions-wise, the new Superb is longer than the outgoing car, but maintains the same wheelbase of 2,841 mm. Further the new car is narrower by 15 mm at 1,849 mm. The 4th-gen Superb is taller by 12 mm and measures 1,481 mm high.

Thanks to these changes, there is more headroom and an improvement in the boot space. The already spacious boot now measures 645 litres, an increase of 20 litres over the outgoing model.

Details on the interiors are awaited. Skoda has not released more information about the Superb.
