Skoda has released the engine details in the upcoming Kodiaq SUV. The second-gen SUV is expected to get petrol, hybrid and diesel powertrains. Let us take a look at what the new Kodiaq will offer.
For starters, the Czech carmaker plans to offer 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbo petrols and a 2.0-litre diesel on the Kodiaq SUV. The former will be offered in hybrid and mild-hybrid options.
For the entry level model, Skoda will offer the 1.5-litre engine in a 150 HP avatar. This will be paired with a mild-hybrid system as well. A 7-speed DSG gearbox will be offered as standard.
The same engine will power the Kodiaq iV plug-in hybrid. The 1.5-litre TSI mill is paired with a 25.7 kWh battery. The total system output is 204 HP. Skoda will offer a 6-speed DSG gearbox with the plug-in hybrid version of the Kodiaq. The all-electric range is expected to be 100 km.
There is also going to be an all-wheel drive version of the Kodiaq. This model will feature a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine rated at 204 HP. The Czech carmaker has paired a 7-speed DSG to this motor.
In the international markets, there will be two diesel motors on offer. The same 2.0-liter diesel will be available in two states of tune. Customers can choose from a 150 HP front wheel drive or a 193 HP all-wheel drive setup. Both of them will get 7-speed dual clutch automatics as standard.
Meanwhile Skoda India has finally updated the 7-seater Kodiaq SUV. This comes in as a part of compliance with the new BS6 Phase 2 norms. The prices now start at INR 37.99 lakh. In addition to this, the company has also increased Kodiaq’s allocation for India by over 50 per cent. Skoda will continue to import the Kodiaq for the Indian market via the CKD route.
