Skoda Rapid special edition spied

With the festive season approaching, seems like the Czech car manufacturer Skoda is all set to launch a special edition of its Rapid sedan in India.

Autocar India has released an image of this special edition Skoda Rapid being tested on the Indian roads. This limited edition is expected to roll out with cosmetic updates such as smoked headlamps with projectors, blackened front grille, black ORVMs, 16″ black ‘Comet’ alloy wheels & a different fog lamp housing. This variant, with these features, is different from the Skoda Rapid Ultima currently on offer.

It is being claimed that this particular variant will be called the Rapid Black Edition, but we will have to wait till the launch for official confirmation on the same. Cosmetic changes & additions are expected on the interiors as well.

Mechanically, the Rapid Black Edition is rumoured to be powered by a new 1.5L 104 BHP diesel engine developed by VW & could be mated to a DSG gearbox as well.

Will this be the final special edition on the Skoda Rapid before the facelift model finally arrives on Indian shores? Only time will tell…
