2020 Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI bookings open for INR 50,000

Skoda has commenced bookings on the Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI at a refundable booking amount of INR 50,000 at all Skoda authorised dealerships in India. The brand along with the Rapid 1.0 TSI also opened bookings for the Skoda Karoq SUV at the same booking amount of refundable INR 50,000 in India. 

The Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI has been newly introduced with the brand’s BS6 emissions-compliant Turbocharged Stratified Injection (TSI) petrol engine that makes 110 ps of power and 220 Nm of torque matched to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. To put things into perspective the outgoing Skoda Rapid comes with a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre petrol engine that produces 103 ps of power and 132 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission.

In terms of styling, the Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI features a vertically slated dark grille with chrome bezel, projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, a large air dam with fog lights flanking its sides, rounded wheel arches, a character line on the shoulder, blacked-out B-pillar, rear roof antenna, alloy wheels, trunk spoiler and diffuser on the rear. 

On the inside, the Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI comes with dual-tone interiors, analogue instruments with digital multi-information display, control mounted steering wheel, a large touchscreen infotainment display in the centre of the dashboard, rotary knobs for the climate control etc.

Skoda at the 15th edition of the Auto Expo 2020 in Delhi showcased the Skoda Rapid in its Matte Concept and Monte Carlo avatar equipped with a 1.0 TSI petrol engine. The Skoda Rapid Matte concept comes in a matte grey paint finish with red accents and a dark theme on the grille and alloys with red ORVMs, a red boot lid spoiler and a red embellishment on the lower part of the door. The Monte Carlo, on the other hand, was previously sold in India that comes with a sporty Red and Black paint finish.

Skoda will start delivering the Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI to pre-booked customers from 14 April 2020.
