Skoda’s RS branded cars have always been a hit with the enthusiast crowd. Be it the previous-gen Octavia RS, the Octavia RS 230 or the Octavia RS 245. So, keeping in mind this set of customers, the Czech carmaker is now planning to launch the Octavia RS iV plug-in hybrid sedan in India.
Octavia RS iV hybrid : Design and Interiors
Internationally, the Octavia RS iV was launched back in 2020. It was also the 20th anniversary of the RS brand. In terms of design, the car is based on the regular Octavia, but distinguished by few minor design changes for the RS-version. At the front, the car gets a blacked-out grille, sharper fog lamp housings and a prominent bumper lip. The air dam enclosure also gets the black treatment along with ORVMs. There are red RS badges all around the car. The front and rear skid plates are also finished in black.
On the inside, the car gets a 3-spoke steering wheel, red contrast stitching and an all-black theme. The front seats come with integrated headrests and offer better shoulder support and overall bolstering has been improved as well. Other bits include the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
Powertrain of the Octavia RS iV hybrid
The Octavia RS iV is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine. It generates 148 BHP. The numbers look small, but when considering the fact that the car also gets a 113 BHP electric motor, the performance is quite good.
Skoda claims a 0-100 km/h time of around 7.3 seconds. Further, the car is equipped with a 13 kWh battery pack, which gives the car a 60 km all-electric range as well.
Availability of the car in India
Skoda will be bringing the car to Indian shores via the completely built unit (CBU) route. The cars could also be imported under the government of India’s rule of not requiring homologation for up to 2500 units imported. Safe to say, we can also expect the car to be priced around the INR 40-50 lakh mark.
