Skoda Auto India has announced that bookings have now opened for the 2020 versions of the Superb, Karoq and Rapid models. While the Karoq is an all-new model in the SUV line-up for Skoda in India, the Superb has received a facelift and the Rapid now comes with a new engine option. Skoda will allow customers to book cars online, as the current lockdown in India due to the Covid-19 Pandemic doesn’t allow customers to get a touch and feel of the cars in the showrooms. However, customers can now decide which car they wish to buy from the Skoda brand round the clock. The online booking platform has more than 80 dealers listed for a customer to choose from.
Skoda started 2020 with the sales of the Octavia RS 245, which has already been sold out. That is one of the most exciting cars in the segment, and probably the most practical performance sedan one can buy in India. 200 units of the Octavia RS 245 set aside for India have been sold out.
The Skoda Superb Facelift and the Karoq SUV can be booked for INR 50,000 while the booking amount for the Rapid 1.0L TSI model is set at INR 25,000. Skoda will fast forward the purchase and delivery process post the lockdown. Final pricing for all the models is yet to be announced, along with the variants to be on offer.
Powering the all-new Skoda Karoq SUV is a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged TSI petrol motor matched to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. This motor produces 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The BS6 compliant Superb facelift will come with a 2.0L, TSI turbo-petrol motor producing 190 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque matched to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The Rapid 1.0L TSI produces 110 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque. Point to note, the entire Skoda portfolio is ditching their TDI diesel engines because of the BS6 emission norms.
