Skoda has announced the launch of the updated Octavia, now available with all-wheel drive (AWD) for both hatchback and estate variants. This new feature aims to enhance the vehicle’s performance and appeal, making it a strong contender in the market.
The AWD version is powered by a 2.0 TSI petrol engine that delivers 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. The updated Octavia AWD can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds for the hatchback variant and 6.7 seconds for the estate variant. Both models have a top speed of 228 km/h. The AWD system also increases the vehicle’s towing capacity to up to 1,900 kg with a braked trailer.
The Octavia’s AWD system is managed by an electrohydraulically controlled inter-axle multi-plate clutch, supported by sensors that continuously monitor driving conditions. This system allows up to 100% of torque to be redirected to the rear axle under optimal conditions, while under normal conditions, power is distributed between the front and rear axles at a maximum ratio of 50:50. The advanced multi-link rear axle ensures precise wheel control, enhancing handling, safety, and ride comfort.
