Skoda launches Kushaq Active Peace & Ambition Classic variants

The worldwide chip shortage in the automobile industry is no longer a piece of news. Lesser chips mean lesser production, thus affecting the sales volume significantly. And hence car makers are taking innovative steps to counter this and maintain a balance in the supply-demand curve. Skoda India, which has been in the news recently for all the good reasons, has introduced two new trims for Kushaq. The two new variants are Active Peace and Ambition Classic.

What’s New, What’s Missing?

With the word shortage, it is safe to assume that there are some missing features to balance out the things. The Kushaq Ambition Classic is the new mid-trim based on the previous Ambition 1.0 TSI trim. Customers opting for this model will miss out on automatic climate control, connected car tech, and wireless functionality for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. But the good thing is it now costs INR 30,000 less. At the same time, the Kushaq Active Peace is the new entry-level model that gets an exciting price tag of INR 9.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). But the trim was limited only to 600 units, of which all are already sold out.

Retrofit Missing Features Later

Skoda India has given the confirmation that some of the missing features can be retrofitted back at a later stage. When the chip shortage gets normal, and the availability improves, customers can retrofit the missing features.

The missing infotainment unit for the Active Peace variant will cost INR 30,00 should a customer choose to install it later. The steering wheel retains the audio controls, and it is just a matter of connecting a few wires to make them work like OEM. Power Folding mirrors which are not available with the Active Peace and Active variants, will cost INR 25,000. With much flexibility and redistribution of features and cost, customers will definitely have another look at the Kushaq.
