Skoda is globally known for its fun-to-drive cars that often please the inner enthusiast of buyers. However, the current car portfolio of the company in India does not have a special dedicated race car like the vRS series. Hence, to engage more customers who love to drive their cars, Skoda is working on a Racer Cup Series that will be based out of the Kylaq.
As per the latest report published online, Skoda is working on the Racer Cup car based on the Kylaq, which will feature multiple mods to offer a competitive performance. To make it more fun, Skoda is going to put its 2.0-litre TSI engine in the Kylaq Cup car. Moreover, being a race car means it will shed a lot of weight and get performance parts like a roll cage, race brakes, suspension change, and more.
Since a Cup Series is denoted by the same make of cars, it allows the participants to prove their capabilities without offering a technical advantage over others. The similar Racer Cup Series was offered by the sibling brand Volkswagen which included the Polo, Vento, and Ameo racecars.
Speaking to the source, Skoda brand director of India, Petr Janeba, also said that they want to make the Racer Cup Series as accessible as possible for young participants to compete. This one-make racer series will not only boost Motorsports in India, but it will also create positive marketing for the Skoda Kylaq.
