The Skoda Enyaq has been spotted multiple times while being tested in India. The frequency of spotting the electric SUV has increased a lot recently. This does send a mesage that it could make its debut in India soon. The recent test mule was an undisguised Enyaq 85. It was spotted in the Pimpri Chinchwad area in Pune which is very close to Skoda’s plant in Chakan.
While it will be making its debut in India, the Skoda Enyaq 85 is not a new product. It is based on Skoda-VW’s MEB platform which is exclusive to electric vehicles. The Enyaq 85 comes with a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 282 bhp and is capable of achieving a speed of 0-100 kmph in just 6.2 sec. Powering the motor is an 82 kWh battery that boasts of 565 km range in a single charge on the WLTP cycle. It is also available in a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive. Though it has more power than the RWD variant, it loses out on some range. However, we are not sure if this variant will make it to India.
Considering the frequency of the test mules being spotted, we can assume that the Enyaq is in its final stages of testing. We can expect the car to be unveiled in the first half of 2024. This will be the first all-electric vehicle from Skoda in India. While there is no information on the prices yet, we can expect the Enyaq 85 to be priced a little higher as it will come to India via the CBU route.
