Skoda India is gearing up to launch the new-generation Kodiaq SUV in India by January 2025. The launch is expected to take place at the Bharat Mobility Show in New Delhi. This new model promises advanced technology, more features, and a slightly larger cabin.
Skoda Kodiaq SUV What’s New?
The new Kodiaq will be built on the updated MQB EVO platform. It will continue with the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, delivering 190 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The SUV will feature a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox with a 4X4 setup, ensuring smooth performance.
The new Kodiaq will come with a 13-inch infotainment screen, a fully digital instrument cluster, and the innovative Smart Dial setup with customizable color displays. The SUV will also have a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated and heated front seats, and a powered tailgate.
Market Impact
Skoda India has already deployed several units of the new Kodiaq on Indian roads for testing purposes. Observations suggest that at least two trim levels will be available at launch. The outgoing model is priced at INR 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and the new model is expected to see a slight price increase. It will come to India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit and will be assembled locally.
Since its launch in India, the Skoda Kodiaq has enjoyed considerable success, appealing to buyers looking for a luxurious and spacious SUV. The Kodiaq’s blend of premium features, robust performance, and advanced safety systems has made it a popular choice among Indian consumers.
Its sales have been bolstered by its reputation for reliability and the brand’s strong after-sales service network. The upcoming second-generation model is expected to build on this success, offering even more advanced features and technology to meet the evolving demands of the Indian market.
The new Kodiaq will face competition from models like the Volkswagen Taigun, Jeep Meridian, Hyundai Tucson, MG Gloster, and Toyota Fortuner.
