Skoda India has finally revealed the all-new Skoda Kylaq at a starting price of INR 7.89 lakh. This officially marks Skoda’s entry into the entry-level sub-4 meter compact SUV segment.
The Skoda Kylaq is powered by a 1.0 L turbocharged TSI unit which powers the Kushaq and the Slavia as well. This engine produces 115 PS of peak power and 178 Nm peak torque. The three-cylinder motor can be mated either to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The claimed 0-100 kmph time is 10.5 sec. The Kylaq is expected to be much more peppy given its lighter weight as compared to the Kushaq.
In terms of design, the Kylaq retains Skoda’s signature styling with a bold grille, split headlight setup, and DRLs placed above the headlamps. The SUV also features chrome door handles, roof rails, and body cladding, giving it a rugged yet stylish appearance. The Kylaq is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels and offers a ground clearance of 189 mm, making it suitable for both city driving and off-road adventures.
At the rear the Kylaq gets LED taillamps and a black strip that runs across the tailgate. The rear bumper completes the rugged look of the SUV. The faux diffusers give the car a sporty feel.
Inside, the Kylaq boasts a 10-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, and automatic climate control. The SUV also features rear AC vents, keyless entry, and a sunroof, ensuring a comfortable and connected driving experience. The rear seats offer adequate space with adjustable headrests and a foldable centre armrest, while the boot capacity stands at 446 litres.
Safety being a priority for Skoda, the Kylaq is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a reverse parking camera. The SUV also includes ISOFIX child seat mounting points and three-point seatbelts for all occupants.
Bookings for the Kylaq will be opened on Dec 2 while the deliveries will begin from January 27 next year. Once launched, the Kylaq will compete with the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Tata Nexon.
