We are aware that the EV subsidies have been reduced. Thus the EV makers are working hard to bring in new affordable variants to boost sales. Simple Energy launched its flagship Simple One electric scooter in May 2023. This retails at a starting price of INR 1.45 lakh.

Deliveries of the same have already started from June 06 onwards. Simple One electric scooter is an exciting product. In terms of performance, the scooter is a sheer winner. In terms of range as well, it boosts 212 km. The performance figures are as, top speed of 105 kmph and acceleration from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.77 seconds.

Due to the reduced cost, it is expected that some premium features may not be available on affordable scooters, such as variations in the battery pack, range, and top speed. However, users will still benefit from Simple Energy’s commitment to advanced safety standards. One notable concern with electric scooters is the potential for battery-related incidents. Simple Energy’s flagship model, the Simple One, addresses this with a highly efficient lithium-ion battery pack that is sturdy and well-designed for thermal management. It incorporates an advanced battery management system that continuously monitors and controls factors like temperature, current, and voltage fluctuations. These safety features will also be present in the upcoming affordable electric scooters from Simple Energy.

What Could We Expect From These Affordable Scooters?

In terms of specifications, reducing the cost of an electric scooter can be achieved through various methods. One straightforward approach is to utilize a smaller battery pack, resulting in a reduced range but making the scooter more affordable for a wider range of buyers.

The Simple One electric scooter currently offers a range of 212 km, allowing for a significant reduction in battery size while still providing a decent range of approximately 100 km, which is considered satisfactory for an electric scooter.

Another option to reduce costs is to use a lower-capacity motor. The Simple One electric scooter features an 8.5 kW electric motor that generates 72 Nm of peak torque. However, not all consumers may require such high-performance capabilities.

Additionally, certain features, such as the large touchscreen dashboard found on the Simple One electric scooter, could be omitted or downsized in the new affordable variants. It is anticipated that further details about these scooters will be unveiled in the upcoming weeks.
