Simple Energy Mark 2 electric scooter testing on track

Bengaluru-based electric mobility solutions company, Simple Energy is testing the upcoming Mark 2 electric scooter on the racetrack. Mark 2 is the product codename and the brand will soon reveal the new name for the scooter. The spy shots indicate the company could be running final evaluation on the electric scooter. While the brand has not released the launch dates yet, expect the EV to arrive later this year.

Mark 2 Spyshots

The Simple Energy Mark 2 features a contemporary design language and is likely to come with full LED lighting which means the headlamps, tail lamps and indicator lamps will all be LEDs. According to spy shots, the front apron is quite chiselled and geometric and features a triangular recess for the headlamps. The front features a V-apron design along with sharp side panels, horn-like elements on the handlebar shroud etc. Earlier images reveal a position lamp and sleek indicator lamps integrated into the handlebar shroud.

The body of the scooter features an almond-shaped curve that progressively tapers at the rear end, gives the EV a sharp look at the rear. Earlier pictures reveal two C-shaped taillamp elements along with indicators that integrate within the taillamp cluster. The electric scooter features a right-side-up telescopic front fork suspension, a centrally-mounted monoshock suspension on the rear, a double-sided swingarm and disc brakes on both the front and rear of the scooter. The Mark 2 electric scooter also features alloy wheels shod in wide rubber tyres.

Powertrain

Powering the Simple Energy Mark 2 is a mid-mounted electric motor that draws power from a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery which claims to deliver a range of 240 km on a single charge in Eco mode and the electric scooter is capable of accelerating from 0-50 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 100 kmph. The Mark 2 comes with a removable battery pack that enables charging at home or office a breeze.

Features

Simple Energy claims that the Mark 2 electric scooter will have the largest in the segment under-seat storage space and comes with features such as a touch screen, on-board navigation, Bluetooth and more. The Made in India electric scooter has been developed from scratch and the customer-centric scooter features a state of the art powertrain and software that enables a long-range and high top speed.

Production

Simple Energy has announced that the first phase of the factory in Whitefield is complete and the production facility will initially have a capacity of 50,000 units per annum. The company currently has a team of 50 members and is expanding further.
