September 2020 Indian Car & Bike Sales Report

Here is the OEM wise glimpse of how each manufacturer fared in terms of sales for the month of September 2020. 

Tata Motors Limited registered that sales in the domestic & international market, for Q2 FY21 stood at 1,10,379 vehicles, compared to 1,05,031 units during Q2 FY20. Total domestic sales in September 2020 stood at 44,444 units when compared to September 2019 stood at 32,376 units. The total commercial vehicle (CV) sales for September 2020 stood at 24,910 units when compared to the same period last year the brand made sales of 28,079 units.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited registered a total sales of 160,442 units in September 2020 showing a positive growth 30.8% over the same period in the last year. The total sales in the domestic market registered sales of 150,040 units and 2,568 units for other OEMs and the Company exported 7,834 units in September 2020. In Q2 (FY2020-21) the Company registered a growth of 16.2%, with total sales of 393,130 units. 

Toyota Kirloskar Motors registered sales of 8116 units in the month of September 2020, showing a growth of 46% compared to August 2020. In the last year, TKM sold a  total of 10,203 units in the month of September. The brand also exported 708 units of the Etios. In August 2020 the company had clocked 5555 units. 

Mahindra and Mahindra registered 14,857 vehicles in September 2020, compared to 14,333 vehicles in September 2019, registering a growth of 4%, in the passenger vehicle segment. The company also announced that it has sold 18,907 vehicles in September 2020, as against 18,872 vehicles in September 2019, in the commercial vehicle segment. The brand’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) sold 42,361 units in September 2020 as against 36,046 units during September 2019.

Skoda Auto India sold 1328 units in the month of September 2020, as against 1040 units in August 2020 registering 28% of growth. Also, a 7% growth is seen in September 2020, as compared to September 2019.

Kia Motors has registered sales of 18,676 units in September 2020 and the brand announced that the Kia Sonet recorded 9,266 unit sales in just 12 days. In the month of September 2020 the Kia Seltos, continues its strong performance, with 9,079 unit sales. The company records a 147% year-on-year growth.  

Honda Cars India Ltd has recorded sales of 10,199 units in September’20, against 9,301 units for the same period last year in the domestic market, registering a growth of 9.7%. The brand expected to gain further momentum during the festive season. 

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has registered a cumulative sales of 59,913 Units for the month of September 2020. The brand has announced that it has registered domestic sales of 50,313 units and exports of 9,600 units. The brand shows a 23.6% growth in the month of September 2020 over the same period last year. The cumulative growth for the period is 3.8%. 

Royal Enfield has announced that the brand has recorded sale of  60,041 motorcycles in the month of September 2020, against the sales of  59,500 motorcycles for the same month last year, showing 1% growth. The brand posted 2,07,788 units in 2020-21 as against 3,50,298 units in 2019-20 year-to-date, showing a negative 41%. 

TVS Motor Company has registered 327,692 units as against 287,398 units in August 2020, showing 14% growth in September 2020. The company has also announced that total exports grew by 19% registering sales of 85,163 units in the month of September 2020 as against 71,569 units in September 2019. The two-wheeler exports also grew by 24% registering sales of 71,570 units in September 2020 as against 57,746 units in September 2019.

Bajaj Auto has sold 4,41,306 units in the month of September 2020 as compared to 4,02,035 units in the month of September 2019, showing 10% growth. The brand also announced sales of 14,96,440 units in 2020 as compared to 24,20,765 units in 2019, registering negative sales of 38%. 

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. has announced that the brand has sold 71,661 unit sales in September 2020 registering a growth of 23.7% in September 2020 sales as compared to August 2020. The company sold 65,195 units in the domestic market and exported 6,466 units in September 2020. 

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. have registered YoY domestic sales of 500,887 units in September 2020 compared to 455,896 units sold in September 2019. In addition, 25,978 units were also exported taking the total to 526,865 units. Honda expects to increase the momentum during the festive season especially with the Honda H’ness CB 350. 

Hero Motocorp has announced that the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer registered record sales of 715,718 units in September 2020, the highest sales in a single month, translating into a growth of 16.9% as compared to the same period in the last year. Hero Motocorp has sold 18,14,683 units in the second quarter (July-September) of the current fiscal FY 2021.
