Tata Motors will soon launch the all-new Bolt hatchback. News were doing the rounds yesterday that the new Bolt hatchback will not get the winning combination of a diesel engine coupled with an AMT gearbox. But the manual booklet of the hatchback tells us a different story.
The manual booklet does have a mention of an AMT gearbox. While it couldn’t be looked upon deeper, we are not sure if the automatic option will be available on a petrol of a diesel engine. But as is the case with the Zest, most likely, the Bolt will also get the AMT coupled with the 1.3L diesel motor. Also, it makes sense to plonk in a already ready, tried & tested formula rather than developing a new petrol + AMT combo.
None of the primary competitors have an automatic gearbox on a diesel engine variant as of now, this will give Tata Motors a first moved advantage just like the est, in the compact sedan space.
Also, the Bolt will be the cheapest diesel automatic car available on the Indian streets, if launched. The possibility of the AMT gearbox making it on a petrol engined variant cannot be denied either.
With a host of other segment first features, Tata Motors is leaving no stone unturned to regain their lost momentum on the sales front. Hopefully, the Bolt will be able to replicate a similar success story like the Zest.
Tata might however choose to launch the AMT model a bit later, since the company is struggling to source the gearboxes from Magneti Marelli.
