Fiat will launch the Avventura crossover this month on the 20th. Once that is done, the company will start gearing up for the Abarth 500 launch.
The Abarth 500 hot-hatch will be the flagship model for Fiat in India. It will be powered by a 1.4L, 16-valve, MultiAir, turbocharged petrol motor producing 160 BHP of power and 170 pound-feet of torque. The car gets twin intercoolers and a powertrain control module to provide better power delivery in sport mode.
Other mechanical features will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox, dual exhaust system, KONI front shock absorbers, ESC, torque transfer control (TTC), projector headlamps, ABS with EBD and 7 airbags.
When launched in India, the Abarth 500 will fight against the BMW Mini, BMW 1 Series, Mercedes-Benz A-Class and the likes. Pricing is expected to be close to the Rs. 20 lakh mark.
