DSK Hyosung first revealed the RT125D motorcycle to the Indian customers at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The bike was scheduled for launch by the end of this year, but with Benelli making a market debut, DSK has considered to take things slow and the new Hyosung products will make it to the streets only in 2015.
The big news is, Hyosung has found out that a 125cc engine and premium pricing won’t really make a cut here in India. The price to power comparison will fail amongst other VFM products and the company doesn’t want a sales dud in their stable. Hyosung is now considering a 250cc motor to be plonked in this off-roading capable motorcycle with more power on tap. Not only will a bigger motor justify the price better, but also, tackling bad roads with a bigger motor could be a tad bit easier. The replacement motor could come from the upcoming Hyosung GD250N, which has a 250cc single-cylinder petrol motor.
Previously the RT125 was going to be powered by a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled petrol engine producing 13.5 PS of power and is an adventure touring motorcycle. The GD250N is powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor which was good for producing 27.6 BHP of power @ 9,500 RPM and 2.4 kgm of torque @ 7,000 RPM.
The RT125D features knobby tyres, an engine sump guard, long seats and a relatively higher seating position thanks to the larger front fork travel.
