2024 Hyundai Creta launch in January

Rumours circulating about the arrival of a facelift Hyundai Creta in the Indian market are not new. But now, dealer sources suggest that the 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift is being prepped to make its entry coming January. The start of 2024 is likely to mark the beginning of a new chapter for one of Hyundai’s most loved SUV in the Indian market.

Hyundai clocked sales of more than 9 lakh units of the Creta SUV, in India. The brand also exported more than 2.80 lakh units crossing the 1 million overall sales mark, at the end of June 2023. With the facelift model the brand is likely to further capitalise the SUV segment and possibly further improve its rank in the SUV segment.

2024 Hyundai Creta facelift – Technical Speculations

While the 2024 Hyundai Creta is likely to come with an upgraded front fascia and lights, the mechanical bits are likely to carryover. However, one key change in the engine line-up could be with the turbo-petrol variant. Currently, the brand is only selling the Creta with a 1.5-litre diesel and 1.5-litre petrol engine.

The 1.5-litre CRDi 4-cylinder DOHC diesel engine makes 116 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. While the 1.5-litre MPi naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder DOHC petrol motor produces 115 PS of power and 143.8 Nm of torque. The diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox option, while the petrol engine is only available with a 6-speed manual intelligent variable transmission (IVT).

Speculation is that Hyundai will be introducing the 1.5-litre TGDi (turbocharged gasoline direct injection) 4-cylinder petrol engine with the new 2024 Creta facelift. Kia already introduced this motor with the new Kia Seltos introduced this year. On the Celts the engine produces 160 PS of power and 253 Nm of torque. With the new turbo-petrol engine Hyundai is likely to offer a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) Automatic gearbox.

We expect Hyundai to begin releasing the teasers for the 2024 Creta this Christmas.
