Scania launches new Construction and Mining Trucks in India

Scania Commercial Vehicles AB has more than 127 years of history in global mobility solutions and the Indian arm of the company commenced operations in our country in 2007 in association with Larsen & Toubro. In order to cater to the Indian market, the brand established its first automobile manufacturing facility in Narasapura, Karnataka in 2011 and in March 2019 the brand launched a central parts’ warehouse in Nagpur Maharashtra to further strengthen its operational efficiency. 

Scania India has now launched a Next Truck Generation, a new range of trucks specially made for mining, construction and long hauls. The new Next Truck Generation (NTG) was launched at the brand’s Kolar facility in Karnataka and the new trucks claim to have an upgraded BSVI ready powertrain and features higher load carrying capacity, fuel efficiency, low downtime, driver comfort and safety. 

The New Truck Generation G 440 XT 8×4 Heavy Tipper features an overall length of 9,233 mm, an overall width of 2,600 mm, an overall height of 3,800 mm, 1,450 mm bogie distance and a 5,475 mm wheelbase. The exterior of the truck features a heavy-duty steel bumper, Tinted Windscreen, 4 point suspension and end-outline marker lamps along with the 23 cubic metre Tipper Body.

The engine on the G 440 XT is a 12.7-litres, 6-cylinder in-line engine that produces 440 HP of power @ 1,900 RPM and 2,300 Nm of torque @ 1,000 to 1,300 RPM mated to a 14 front 2 reverse, range splitter liquid-cooled gearbox with overdrive and Scania opticruise gear shift program with layshaft brake and 2 crawler gears. 

The suspension system includes 5 parabolic leaf springs with heavy duty hydraulic shock absorbers and anti-roll bars on the front and parabolic extra-wide bogie suspension with 5 leaf springs and a heavy-duty anti-roll bar on the rear. The braking duties are performed by dual circuit pneumatic drum brakes with automatic slack adjusters and gets an Anti-lock braking system with a traction control system and manual & automatic exhaust brake control with two-step operation. 

In an effort to offer end-to-end solutions, Scania has accommodated various service plans for operational needs like site optimization, uptime improvement, repairs and proactive maintenance.
