Rumours on the internet suggest that Hyundai is considering to plonk the bigger 1.4L CRDi motor in the Xcent compact sedan.
Launched early this year, the Xcent has managed to get a decent market share for itself in the compact sedan segment. Loaded with features from a segment above, the Hyundai Xcent ticks almost all the boxes of a potential buyer. Not to forget the quality of plastics and fit and finish which is almost a benchmark in the segment.
Currently, the Hyundai Xcent is powered by a 3-cylinder, 1.1L diesel motor. Although it looks small on paper, the engine does a decent job of commuting in the city as well as on the highway. It does not feel underpowered as long as you are not too close to the redline at all times.
Hyundai already has the 1.4L diesel motor ready which is currently being used by the Elite i20 and the Hyundai Verna pumping out 90 PS of power.
Doing this could result in a bump in the prices, which could take a bit of the competitive edge away from the Xcent.
Do you think it is necessary to plonk a bigger and more powerful motor in the Xcent?
