Royal Enfield fans rejoice! The Indian bike maker is on a development / launch spree. According to a leaked document, they have planned a bunch of products for the coming year. The most exciting of these is the new liquid-cooled Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. This bike will further spawn four more different versions / iterations based on the same platform.
Details of the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
An entirely new engine is being developed by Royal Enfield. It is said to be of 450cc displacement and will first be offered with the Himalayan 450. While test mules of the bike have been spotted frequently, the latest bikes spotted in testing are very close to the production specifications.
There could also be an adventure (more off-road) variant of the Himalayan 450. From the silhouette, we can see that the bike gets a higher ground clearance, a single-piece seat and increased suspension travel. It also looks visually bulkier than the regular Himalayan.
Details of the new Royal Enfield 450cc Scrambler
The 450cc platform is said to populate even more variants of the Royal Enfield bikes. At the same time, the 450 platform will have lead models, which will give rise to derivatives, which in turn will lead to other variants. The Scrambler could be more on-road than the Himalayan. It can resemble a naked street roadster with low seat height and get alloy wheels. Additionally, the front and rear rim sizes could be the same.
Other Royal Enfield 450cc Derivatives
Apart from the Himalayan and the Scrambler, there could also be a cafe racer and an additional scrambler variant. While the cafe racer is similar to the roadster, it will get a bikini fairing at the front and lower-set handlebars.
The Scrambler version could be one with the least amount of tweaks. It could get an under-seat exhaust, front beak, tall handlebars and wire-spoke rims. It could also get a compact rear fender.
Recapping the Royal Enfield 450cc Platform
There will be five models based on the new liquid-cooled 450cc engine. These could be the Himalayan, followed by two more sub-models and two further derivates at a later date. This is a long-term plan, and we expect it to take at least a couple of years at the minimum. The Himalayan 450 could be launched later next year.
