According to a media report, Royal Enfield is planning to launch 3 new motorcycles. These will sit in the 350-400cc segment. The move could be a response to the latest new launches in this segment – the Harley-Davidson X440 and the Triumph’s range of 400cc bikes.
Royal Enfield has been hard at work over the years. The Indian bike maker was paying close attention to rivals. The Harley-Davidson and Triumph launches in India by their respective JV partners was announced a while back and RE sprung into action.
Upcoming bikes from the Royal Enfield stables
The first new bike is none other than the new Bullet. This is codenamed internally as J1B and the launch could happen sometime in early September.
This will be followed by the new Himlayan with a liquid-cooled engine. Expect a 1.5-2 month interval between these two launches.
Finally, the third bike will be the 440cc Scram. The D4K, as it is known internally, could be launched after the Himalayan. This will not only allow the bikemaker to retain its footing in the Indian market but also introduce a couple of more product lines.
Royal Enfield is also working on a Bobber based on the Classic as well.
Future Line-up at the Royal Enfield
The 350cc J-platform will have the Classic, Meteor, Hunter and the Bullet. The 440 Scram and the Himalayan 450 will sit above them. Then we have the multiple options from the 650cc range.
Despite this, Royal Enfield is already working on 750cc bikes which are expected to compete globally in overseas markets.
Coming to the competition from the likes of Triumph and Harley, Royal Enfield was well aware and worked accordingly to get the new products rolling.
Furthermore, the company is also working on an electric bike based on the L platform.
