Royal Enfield, TVS & Suzuki sales report in January 2021

Royal Enfield announced that the brand recorded 68,887 units of motorcycles sold in January 2021 as compared to 63,520 motorcycles sold in the same period last year showing a growth of 8%. Furthermore, 64,372 units out of the total have been sold in the Indian market while 4,515 units were exported. Royal Enfield registered sales of 61,292 units in the domestic market while 2,228 units were exported pegging 5% growth in the domestic market and 103% growth in exports during the same period last year.

Year-To-Date Royal Enfield sold 4,48,441 units in the domestic market in the period of 2020-21 while 5,62,833 units were sold in the corresponding period of 2019-20 showing decline in sales by 20%. The brand exported 28,192 units Y-T-D in 2020-21 when compared to 33,776 units in 2019-20 showing signs of contraction with 17% negative sales volume. In total sales volume diminished by 20%, with 4,76,633 units of motorcycles sold in 2020-21 as compared to 5,96,609 units sold in 2019-20 Year-To-Date. 

TVS Motor Company recorded 307,149 units sold in January 2021 as against 234,920 units in January 2020 which is a growth of 31% in sales volume. The two-wheeler segment registered 34% growth in total sales with 294,596 units sold in January 2021 as against 220,439 units sold in January 2020. In the domestic market, the brand sold 205,216 units in January 2021 which is 26% more than January 2020 when the brand sold 163,007 units. TVS Motor Company also exported 89,380 units in January 2021 as against 57,432 units in January 2020, and the total exports stood at 100,926 units in the month of January 2021 as against 70,784 units in January 2020 which is 43% in growth despite the scarcity of containers. The three-wheeler arm of the company sold 12,553 units in January 2021 compared to 14,481 units in January 2020. 

Suzuki Motor Corporation’s two-wheeler subsidiary Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. announced that the Japanese brand registered 64,869 unit sales in January 2021. Out of the total sales volume, 57,004 units were sold in the domestic market registering nearly 2% growth in the domestic sales in January 2021. The brand also exported 7,865 units in January 2021, despite COVID-19 pandemic.
