Royal Enfield sold 74,746 motorcycles in January 2023

Royal Enfield has released its sales report for January 2023. For the given term, the two-wheeler maker sold a total of 74,746 motorcycles. The figure rose from 58,838 motorcycles sold during the same period last year. In terms of export figures, Royal Enfield exported 7,044 motorcycles for January 2023. The export figure for January 2022 was 9,112 units.

Detailed Sales Report Analysis

As per the sales report, Royal Enfield saw more demand for its motorcycles in the 350cc range. This includes the likes of Classic, Meteor, Hunter, Electra and Bullet. For the other segment, which is above 350cc, Royal Enfield posted significant sales. This includes the Himalayan and the 650 Twins.

650 Twins arrived early this year with the launch of their 3rd motorcycle in the 650cc range. This is the most premium and expensive motorcycle in Royal Enfield’s range, the Super Meteor 650. This new RE comes retailed at a price tag of INR 3,48,900 (ex-showroom).

350cc Segment In Much Demand

Given the pricing, it is obvious that the Royal Enfield motorcycles in the sub 350cc segment performed better than its larger offerings. Sales of the 350cc segment commanded an 8.78 per cent share.

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 Key Highlights

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is a cruiser that retails at INR 3,48,900 in India. Customers can have the motorcycle available in 3 variants and 7 colours.

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 gets a 648cc BS6 engine. This motor makes 46.3 BHP and a torque of 52.3 Nm. Braking power comes from both front and rear disc brakes. In addition to this, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 also comes with an anti-locking braking system. This Super Meteor 650 bike weighs 241 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 15.7 litres.

The Super Meteor 650 is an interesting proposition. It goes up against the likes of Kawasaki Vulcan S and Benelli 502C. It also  competes against its own sibling Interceptor 650.
