Leading motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield has announced the sales number for the month of December 2022.
Last month, Royal Enfield dispatched 68,400 units of motorcycles. Compared to the same month last year, this was lower by 7 percent. In December 2021, the total sales stood at 73,739. In terms of domestic consumption and exports, the break-up stands at 59,821 units for the Indian market and 8,579 for the export markets. Overall, the 2022-23 numbers stood at 5,43,818 which represented a growth of 50% compared to 2021-22 figures, which were 3,60,898.
Royal Enfield also announced the inauguration of its fourth CKD (Completely knocked down) assembly outside India, in Brazil.
Last week, Royal Enfield also announced a new strategic investment in the electric bike maker Stark Future. Royal Enfield’s parent company, Eicher Motors invested close to INR 439 crores (approx. Euro 50 million) for a 10.35 percent stake in Stark Future SL.
The deal will also enable long-term partnership between the Indian and European companies. Some of the areas the two plan on jointly researching and developing in areas which include electric motorcycles, technology sharing, technical licensing, and manufacturing for Eicher Motors.
To cater to the increasing demand in the Americans region, as well as Brazil in particular, Royal Enfield commenced operations at its latest plant. The facility is located at Manaus, which happens to be the capital of the Amazonas state. This makes Brazil only the fourth country after Thailand, Colombia and Argentina to have a Royal Enfield factory.
The 2022 Season of the JK Tyre Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup Championship concluded at the Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore. The event took place from 16-18 December 2022. Allwin Xavier was the overall winner in the Professional category with 49 points across 3 rounds. Meanwhile, in the Amateur section, Soorya PM amassed 85 points over eight races to come first in his category.
