Royal Enfield enthusiasts remain excited about Royal Enfield’s upcoming bikes in the year 2021. Recently, the brand announced that it will introduce one new motorcycle every quarter. Since then, aficionados of the brand have kept their eyes peeled for the upcoming Royal Enfield bikes in India in 2021. The brand also revealed that it will position the Royal Enfield upcoming bikes across segments. This means both a 350cc single-block engine, as well as a 650cc parallel-twin, will be in order.
Earlier reports revealed that Royal Enfield will spend several hundred crore Rupees in development. This investment will help the Chennai-based brand solidify its footing in both the domestic as well as international markets. The investment will also help the company gain new capabilities and expand in the global market. While the brand is keeping details of the upcoming motorcycle secret, spy shots of test mules road testing in India give us a glimpse of what to expect in the near future.
It is clear that the Royal Enfield Classic 350, the brand’s bread & butter will be upgraded with a new engine and chassis for 2021. The Classic 350 will also come with new electronics and ergonomic features, compared to the predecessor. This may include a revised rider’s triangle, new footpeg position and handlebar position. The motorcycle will also come with subtle design updates but retains its ‘Classic’ character. But the major change lies in the engine and chassis. The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 which was launched last year with a new chain-driven valve distribution system on the new J-series engine will power the Royal Enfield 350cc bikes in 2021. This includes the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
The new engine and chassis platform have given Royal Enfield the opportunity to develop a range of motorcycles in the booming 350cc segment. Another Royal Enfield motorcycle to look out for in 2021-22 is the Royal Enfield Hunter. The Royal Enfield Hunter is a naked roadster, with a street-bike aura. The motorcycle could have drawn its design inspiration from the Interceptor 650 and comes with an urban street bike stance. The Hunter features a rounded headlamp, upswept exhaust, straight bench seat, almond-shaped fuel tank, telescopic forks with rubber gaiters and alloy wheels.
Royal Enfield is also testing a new Cruiser motorcycle based on the 650 Twin platform. The Cruiser 650 is not just another upgrade for the Interceptor 650 but the riding dynamics are completely different. The motorcycle is also expected to comes with a heavily modified chassis and retuned suspension for highway cruising. While the engine will be the same 650cc twin-cylinder motor from the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
A new Royal Enfield Roadster 650 could also be in pipeline. The Royal Enfield Roadster will feature the same 650cc twin engine but with a revised dynamic in terms of the handlebar, seat and footrest positioning. The gearing on the engine could also be revised for better drivability within the city.
